Monstrous tidal bore kicks up some 20-meter high waves in Qiantang River in east China

The annual tidal bores kicked up some 20-meter high waves in the Qiantang River in Haining City of east China's Zhejiang Province on Sunday morning.

The tide rushing into the river mouth from Hangzhou Bay and sent huge waves some 20 meters high and crashed into the banks.

The tides will roar into Hangzhou, Zhejiang's provincial capital, later on Sunday where tens of thousands of tourists are waiting to have a view of the remarkable natural phenomenon.

This year's tidal bore-watching festival will last from Sept. 27 to 30, the 15th to 18th days of the eighth month on the Chinese lunar calendar.
